How to Make Lipstick Last in Sri Lanka's Heat: Seven Tricks

How to Make Lipstick Last in Sri Lanka's Heat: Seven Tricks

Seven tricks that work

  1. Prep the lips. Gently remove dry skin and apply a thin layer of balm, such as Nuxe Reve de Miel Honey Lip Balm. Blot the extra before colour so the lipstick does not slide.
  2. Outline first. A liner close to your shade stops colour creeping into fine lines.
  3. Apply in thin layers. Two light layers last longer than one thick one.
  4. Blot, then set. Press a tissue over the lips, then add a second thin layer.
  5. Pick the right finish. Matte and long-wear formulas such as L'Oreal Paris Colour Riche Blurred Matte Lipstick or Maybelline SuperStay 24H Liquid Duo Lipstick move less; creamy formulas like Rimmel Lasting Finish Lipstick feel more comfortable but need touching up.
  6. Eat and drink with care. Sip from a straw and expect to reapply after a meal.
  7. Keep it cool. Heat softens lipstick. Do not leave it in a parked car or a hot bag.
