Foundation in Sri Lanka: MAC and Elizabeth Arden Compared
Format first
- Fluid. MAC Studio Fix Fluid Foundation SPF15 (shade NC35, 30ml) is a fluid foundation with SPF15.
- Powder. MAC Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation (shade NW30, 15g) is a powder-plus formula; Elizabeth Arden Pure Finish Mineral Powder Foundation (shade 5, 8.33g) is a mineral powder foundation.
- Cream. Elizabeth Arden Flawless Finish Sponge-On Cream Foundation (shade Vanilla) is a sponge-on cream foundation.
Matching a shade
These products are sold in a single shade each, so choose with care. Check the undertone (cool, warm or neutral), not only how light or deep the colour looks. The shade prefixes on MAC products give a clue: NC shades have a golden (warm) undertone and NW shades a pink (cool) undertone. Swatch along the jawline in daylight if you can, and remember that a foundation may oxidise (darken) over the day.
Heat and humidity
Powder formulas are lighter and feel less heavy in the heat; fluids give more coverage. Set the fluid with a light powder for staying power. Do not rely on foundation SPF for sun protection alone.
